In order to cope with today’s highly complex machine tools and machining processes, more and more companies are turning to end-to-end 3D CAD/CAM solutions. This usually involves creating duplicate entries for the tools and fixtures used in the various systems – the tool database, the CAM system and the simulation software.
This is where FATool’s 3D tool and resource management sets new standards. FATool utilises existing CAD systems for the 3D design of tools and fixtures and transfers these designs, linked to the necessary technical parameters, directly to CAM systems or simulation programmes. A single definition for all systems involved!
The CAM interface is used to integrate NC programming systems into the FATool tool and NC management system. Support is provided for the transfer (check-in and check-out) of files, tools, cutting data and graphics, as well as for starting up the programming system. The extent of integration achievable depends heavily on the capabilities offered by the respective CAM system. During CAM processing, all relevant data records are automatically locked for other users and in the DNC.
